As Plans' business practices have become more technologically advanced, they have encountered greater risks associated with the use of electronic technology. Our e-commerce endorsement was developed in 2000 in direct response to Plans' expressed interest in this kind of product.
The program provides coverage (up to $5,000,000) for third-party losses associated with defamation as a result of an act in Internet operations, damages of a claimant's computer system due to virus infection, violation of privacy rights as a result of Internet operations, and other conditions.
It also protects Plans under an independent limit of liability, on a first-party basis, from losses connected to an e-commerce attack, a denial of service attack, or a virus infection of Internet operations. This coverage responds to business interruption losses and ancillary expenses associated with these events.
